Today in ECW History - January 7th:

Wrestler death(s): Gary Albright (pictured above) passed away on this day in 2000. Albright appeared in ECW one time during 1996 which saw him defeat Ricky Rage in a non-televised match at ECW Holiday Hell 1996 on December 7th, 1996. On January 7th, 2000, Albright wrestled at a World Xtreme Wrestling show in Hazelton, Pennsylvania against Lucifer Grimm. After being hit with a cutter, Albright collapsed to the canvas. A worried Grimm rolled Albright on top of himself to finish the match after which concerned wrestlers and ring crew tried to resuscitate him. Albright was pronounced dead shortly after being removed from the ring. The official cause of death was listed as a heart attack. The medical examiners also found that Albright suffered from diabetes, had an enlarged heart and blockage of several coronary arteries. Because it was determined that Albright  died of natural causes, the police were never involved in the matter. He was survived by his wife Monica Anoa'i, his son Samuel, and two daughters, Angelica and Alexandria. Also, Big Val Puccio, a former member of the Full Bloodied Italians, also passed away on this day in 2011. Puccio appeared as a member of the F.B.I. during 1995 and last was seen in ECW when he defeated Tony Stetson at ECW Wrestlepalooza 1995 on August 5th, 1995.

Wrestler birthday(s): Former ECW star CW Anderson was born on this day in 1970. Also, in 1975, former ECW star Chilly Willy was born!
