While ECW ran it's first events in 1993, the promotion struggled for many years to gain pay-per-view distribution. ECW, with the help of it's fans, finally accomplished that in April of 1997 for their huge "Barely Legal" event. After Barely Legal, ECW ran an additional 20 shows between 1997-2001.
