In 1993 Eastern Championship Wrestling held a tournament to crown new ECW Tag Team Champions after the champions (The Suicide Blondes) vacated the titles when Chris Candido jumped to Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Thus, ECW held a two-night tournament between August 7th and August 8th, 1993 to crown new champions. The tournament aired across 4 episodes of ECW's Hardcore TV program. The tournament was eventually won by Eddie Gilbert and The Dark Patriot who was Doug Gilbert under a mask. Here is the tournament matches:

- August 7th, 1993 (aired August 17th): Ivan Koloff and Vladimir Koloff def. The Headhunters (Headhunter A and Headhunter B)

- August 7th, 1993 (aired August 24th): Eddie Gilbert and The Dark Patriot def. JT Smith and Tommy Cairo
