Wrestler birthday(s): The Sandman turns 60 years old today. Sandman is remembered as a ECW original, debuting in the promotion on its first shows. He originally competed in Tri-State Wrestling Alliance before ECW was opened in 1992. He won the ECW World Tag Team Championship once with 2 Cold Scorpio. He won the ECW World Heavyweight Championship a record-setting 5 times, winning his last reign at ECW's final pay-per-view, Guilty As Charged 2001 when he defeated Steve Corino and Justin Credible in a Three-Way Dance Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Canes match. He would loose the title immediately to Rhino who would defeat The Sandman less than a minute later to become the last ECW World Champion. Following ECW's closure, he would appear in the ECW rip-off promotion Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW) and won the XPW King of the Deathmatch Championship from Supreme in 2002. At the XPW reunion show Cold Day in Hell, he would return to defeat Pogo the Clown. He also during this time competed in Blue Meanie and Jasmin St. Claire's promotion Pro-Pain Pro Wrestling (3PW) and would make appearances in NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2003 and 2004. He would return to television in 2005 for the WWE produced ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view, returning a year later for the second one and being part of WWE's failed ECW relaunch. He was also apart of the 2005 Hardcore Homecoming ECW reunion events that took place around the time of the first One Night Stand He would team up with Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer to face The New Breed (Marcus Cor Von, Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn and Matt Striker) at WrestleMania 23 in 2007. Soon after he was eleased from his contract and returned to making appearances on the independent scene in companies such as IWA Mid-South. In 2010, he was brought on to appear at TNA's ECW tribute show called HardCore Justice in 2010 and he would also appear at Shane Douglas' new ECW reunion promotion called Extreme Rising, making an appearance at the ECW reunion show called Extreme Reunion in April 2012. In November 2018 he made a surprise appearance on Ring of Honor Wrestling TV, loosing to Silas Young. In February 2019, he with fellow ECW alumnus Tommy Dreamer faced Davey Boy Smith, Jr. and Brian Pillman, Jr. in Major League Wrestling (MLW), where they would loose. He returned to TNA, now called Impact Wrestling in 2019, as part of a storyline involving Killer Kross and Eddie Edwards. In 2007 he was inducted into the ECW Arena's Hardcore Hall of Fame.
