Hardcore Hall of Fame (2002) Inductions - October 19th, 2002:
⦁ Ted "ROCCO ROCK" Petty - Born: September 1st, 1953 - Died: September 21st, 2002:
Rocco Rock of The Public Enemy (along with Johnny Grunge) was inducted into the ECW Arena (now known as the 2300 Arena) Hardcore Hall of Fame! Rock tragically passed away a month prior after having a heart attack while he was in a car on the way to a Pro-Pain Pro Wrestling (3PW) event at the ECW Arena which he was scheduled to work.
Wrestler Death(s): On this day in 2003, legendary tag team wrestler Road Warrior Hawk passed away. Real name Michael James Hegstrand, he passed away in the early morning hours of October 19th, 2003. He was 46 years old. His friends said that he and his wife Dale had recently bought a condominum near their current home and were packing their boxes the night before. Hegstrand said that he felt tired and went to go take a nap. When his wife checked on him at about 1:00 AM, he had died of a sudden heart attack. At the time of his passing, Hawk and Animal were working on a book about their storied careers. His partner, Road Warrior Animal, returned to WWE in mid-2005 and decided to dedicate his entire run to Hegstrand, including his tag team title victory with Heidenreich at WWE The Great American Bash 2005.
Wrestler Birthday(s): On this day in 1973, former ECW enhancement talent, Corporal Punishment (real name: Daniel McDevitt), was born. Punishment also worked as "The Comet" in ECW during 1993,. He would return to the company as Corporal Punishment for a short run in 1997, which saw him wrestle the likes of Spike Dudley, Sabu, Pitbull #2, Axl Rotten, Balls Mahoney, Tommy Dreamer and Taz, as well as a short lived tag team with Axl Rotten, where they faced Wolf and Yar and also The Gangstas (New Jack and Mustafa). His final ECW match was on May 9th, 1997, when he was defeated by Taz at a ECW Live Event in Downington, Pennsylvania.
