Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Championship

Photo of the original Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Championship, used from 1990-1991 by Tri-State Wrestling Alliance, which was the company that Tod Gordon purchased from Joel Goodhart to found ECW!

As you can see, Gordon used the same exact belt from Tri-State Wrestling Alliance, only added some paint to the belt to cover up the "TWA" and "Tri-State Wrestling Alliance" on the belt. This design was used by ECW from '92-'96

1. Rockin' Rebel - July  20th, 1990 at Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Live Event in Philadelphia, PA (Rebel defeated DC Drake, among others in a Battle Royale to become the inaugural champion. However, the title was held up almost immediately)

2. DC Drake - September 15th, 1990 at Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Live Event in Philadelphia, PA (Drake defeated Rebel in a rematch to win the title)

3. JT Smith - August 3rd, 1991 at Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Live Event in Philadelphia, PA

4. Buddy Landel - October 26th, 1991 at Tri-State Wrestling Alliance Live Event in Philadelphia, PA

- VACANT - The promotion folded in December 1991 and was bought out by Tod Gordon, who formed Eastern Championship Wrestling (later known as Extreme Championship Wrestling) in early 1992. The promotion would return in 2009 under new leadership (Mike Tartaglia, Bruno Zanolle and Joe Zanolle_ who would run shows using the TWA name from 2009-2011 before the company went under/stopped running shows once again. For the sake of ECW's history, and the fact that Goodhart sold it to Gordon, we say December 1991 was the end of TWA as far as it is related to ECW's history.
