Rob Van Dam: "Paul Heyman Is The Best Booker That I Know Of"

Former ECW World Television Champion Rob Van Dam gives his thoughts on Paul Heyman as a creative mind in professional wrestling. Rob Van Dam is definitely a 'Paul Heyman guy'. One of the top stars of the original ECW, Rob Van Dam was given creative freedom and allowed to become a star under Heyman.

Paul Heyman has been quoted as saying that Van Dam's determination to make the ECW World Television Championship the equivalent of the ECW World Heavyweight Championship allowed the titles to be seen on the same level during Van Dam's record-setting time as champion, a title he held for almost 2 whole years.

During a recent interview with Dominic DeAngelo's Wrestling Writing, Van Dam said he believes Paul Heyman is the best booker that he knows of.

“I think you know that as far as booking goes, in my opinion, I think he's the best. That's also because I like his stuff in particular," RVD said. "He got a lot of pushback from the WWE office in 2001 during the Alliance. A lot of his ideas got opposed. Same thing when we brought ECW back for the Sci-Fi network. A lot of his ideas were opposed. There were other bookers in the office that think completely different. They would think it's ridiculous.

“I think Paul's got the best ideas 'cause they thought the exact opposite and tried to stop all of his ideas, but I agree with that sentence that he's the best that I know of,”

After all of these years, Paul Heyman is still in the WWE. In fact, Paul's current tenure in WWE has lasted longer than his days at the helm of Extreme Championship Wrestling (let that sink in!). Paul now works with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.
